Lesley Hu, Hope Hooton, and Brandi Morey-Pols are courageous mothers who have endured the unimaginable loss of their children to filicide, yet continue to show up with extraordinary strength and purpose. Rather than allowing their grief to silence them, each has chosen to transform profound pain into meaningful action—advocating for awareness, prevention, and systemic change to protect other children and families. Their voices, leadership, and unwavering commitment honor their children’s lives while pushing forward a movement rooted in love, accountability, and hope. I am deeply proud to stand alongside these remarkable women as we work together to ensure no family has to suffer this kind of loss again.

Pierce’s love of life exuberated out of his sparkling brown eyes and braces-filled smile. He loves his friends, his school, playing Roblox, Top Gun, traveling to foreign countries, skiing, telling jokes, making people laugh, dancing, chocolate mousse, shopping in the toy section of Target, and eating ice cream while taking a bath, just to name a few. He loves his family, his twin cousins, and especially me, his mom. Pierce is a mama’s boy.
Pierce, my little mama’s boy, was tragically taken from us on January 13, 2021. He was murdered by his father, my ex-husband, while he slept. Pierce was shot in the heart with a gun and then his father cowardly took his own life. Pierce’s beautiful beating heart, which was loved by so many, never had a chance. My heart and soul were taken away from me that day, as well as from all those who loved Pierce - which are so many children and kids from around the world.

Just like Wyland, Pierce Hu was tragically taken due to gun violence. His mother, Lesley, is turning her pain into action.
Pierce’s Pledge is a non-profit organization whose mission is to keep children safe during the stressful and emotionally volatile time of custody disputes. We believe that by storing guns outside of the home during these times, we can do just that. We represent a voice and advocate for the child and work with lawyers, mediators, custody partners and judges. A child can’t ask a parent to store a gun, but we can.
I am fortunate to call Lesley my friend. I am now part of the Pierce's Pledge team, together we are advocating to help save children from gun violence.

This bill exists because two children should still be here. Because too many families have learned the hard way that our family court system does not always put child safety first.
We are asking everyone who supports real child protection reform to change their profile picture to this image in honor of Alec and Lydia and in support of this bill.
The pink and green handprints represent children whose voices were not heard loudly enough. This is how we make sure they are heard now.
By changing your photo, you are helping to:
• Raise awareness across Arizona
• Show legislators that the community is watching
• Stand with protective parents and children
• Honor Alec and Lydia in a visible, unified way
It takes 10 seconds. But when hundreds of people do it at once, it sends a message that cannot be ignored.
Please change your profile picture today and keep it up as the bill moves through the legislature.
For Alec.
For Lydia.
For every child who deserves to be safe.

Hope Hooton, shares her story of systematic failure, mental struggles, and the unimaginable losses of her two children, Alec and Lydia. jListen to her podcast, "Voices Against Filicide."

Rowan was tragically taken from us by his biological father. This act — known as filicide — is way more common than you might think. On average, over 450 children are killed by a parent annually. One is too many; 450 is abysmal!
Rowan’s circumstances and story need to be told and addressed. Laws, perceptions and actions need to change. This is the inspiration behind THE ROWAN PROJECT.
The Rowan Project is a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about filicide in the United States. As the first organization focused on this cause, our primary goal is to provide education, support, and advocacy for families and communities affected by this tragic issue.
We all need to fight to stop filicide from occurring. We need to AMEND THE SYSTEM. SAVE CHILDREN.
